About Me

Hello, my name is Victoria McKinnon Blackburn. I qualified as a speech and language therapist at the University of Essex in 2009. Since then, I have worked within the NHS, specifically in community clinics, nurseries, mainstream and special needs primary and secondary schools, as well as independent special needs schools.

I have supported children presenting with different communication profiles such as those associated with Down Syndrome, autistic spectrum disorder, cerebral palsy and learning disabilities. I have worked with children who have speech delays/disorders and/or language delays/disorders and I am especially keen to help identify those children with a range of undiagnosed communication difficulties. I have implemented high and low tech communication aids, as well as using evidence based programmes and strategies to support the individual needs of my clients.

On a personal note, I enjoy patchwork and quilting and am a keen gardener. I live by the sea and I am very lucky to have two grown up daughters.
